Through The Purple Haze Song, Book or Movie Challenge

This week's challenge was lots of fun- but what to pick? I have so many favourites in each category. In the end, I decided to use a Kenny K stamp from Whimsy Stamps and use the song "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as my motivation...takes me back to rollerskating days as a teen!!!
I had had the ultra blingy background paper in my stash for ages waiting for the right card and managed to also find some stars and a Sizzix Christmas Bauble die with a star to use in the background.

I used my Copic Markers to colour in the stamped image. Highlights on the guitar, earrings and eyeshadow were made using spica markers- more sparkle of course!

Through The Purple Haze Bling Challenge

I was really pleased to win last week's sketch challenge over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges Blog. This week the task was to incorporate some bling into our design...those who know me know I need no encouragement in that department.
So, into the bling stash I went. I chose some silver glitter paper for the background and then cut out two Memory Box Spiderweb frames to make the background. I had to cut these to make one long web for my card.
The image I used is from Simply Betty Stamps. I coloured her using my Copic markers and then added some sparkle with Spica markers.
To finish, I added some small black gems from Flourish With A Bling to the web.

Simply Betty Stamps- Summerween Swap

I love shopping for craft goodies and also love receiving parcels in the post. I have just finished joining in the Summerween Swap over at Simply Betty Stamps Facebook page. We were given a swap buddy to exchange a parcel of goodies with. My swap buddy was Heather. She sent me a wonderful collection of Fall and Halloween items. This included stickers, papers (I love the transparency one!), ribbon, brads, notepads, letters, markers, cutouts and candy. I was thoroughly spoilt. Thank you so much, Heather!
I have already put the stamps to good use completing the Witch Mercedes challenge at Simply Betty Stamps Blog.
Here are some photos of all of my goodies. I have told the kids the candy is for Christmas (joking but I can tease them for a few days)...can you believe that is all they are interested in?
Have a look at everyone else's deliveries- I can hardly wait to do the same.

Through the Purple Haze Sketch Challenge

I was so excited to make a place last week at Through The Purple Haze Challenges. This week the request was to make something using a provided sketch. I enjoy using design sketches as a springboard for ideas. My card this week again uses a Simply Betty Stamps digi- can't get enough of them.
I coloured the image using my Copic Markers. The background circle is a Spellbinders die.The eyelets give a nice little peep at the colour underneath.
Instead of ribbon, I used washi tape to decorate the background. One strip is the full width and the other has been folded in half and I then used double sided tape to attach.
The embellishments in this sketch followed a curve and so I chose a flourish to cut up to curve around the die cut. The Prima flourish had blue and clear crystals and some had a rainbow shimmer.
The sentiment is from an old Stampin' Up set in my stash- Always. I mounted the sentiment on black cardstock and then patterned paper which was also used below the sentiment for another element from the sketch.
Let me know what you think and also check out the other terrific entries at

Simply Betty Stamps Challenge- August

Witch Mercedes was so much fun to colour for the August challenge over at The Simply Betty Stamps Blog.
I coloured the image using the following Copic markers:
Hat- BV23, 100, 0
Hair- G14, G17, G28, YG11
Broom- W7, E35, E37
Skin- E51, E53
Lips- R27, R39
Cheeks- R20
Dress- BV00, BV08, FV2
Eyes-G14
I then used Spica pens to add a bit of sparkle to the buckles, eyes and shoes.

Other features o this card were the great Martha Stewart Halloween punches- Crooked Fence and Cobwebs. Spellbinders dies were used for the main picture and caption.
The Happy Halloween stamp was from my wonderful Summerween package from my swap buddy Heather. If you love getting deliveries in the mail swaps are so much fun and Betty regularly hosts them through her Facebook page. I used foam dots on my stamped label to make it stand out from the background.
The little bow and date were added later after my daughter complained that I failed with my colouring because the Witch colours were no-where else on the page. Good thinking!!
I hope my card gives you some ideas and don't forget to check out all of the other great entries.

Through The Purple Haze Challenge Using Dies

I am enjoying the challenge of meeting a weekly deadline to complete each week's challenge at Through The Purple Haze Challenge Blog. This week I pulled out my dies to create a card.
The Birdcage in the background was made using a Tim Holtz die. I coated the chipboard with Distress Embossing Ink and then poured Stampendous Aged Ochre Embossing Powder over the top- tapping off the excess. I really love this range of embossing powders as when heated, many different colours appear and as the name suggests, it creates a grungy, aged look.
The flourishes for leaves again used chipboard. This die was a Sizzix one. I painted the chipboard with Peeled Paint Distress Stain and then inked the edges using Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.
The flowers were cut from double sided paper so that I had some colour variation. I inked the edges and then scrunched up the flowers. The die is Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and I can recommend this die as a must have for anyone who likes to make their own flowers. I have used it so many times!
The butterflies were Spellbinders Dies- Les Papillions. These dies are great as they cut as well as emboss. I inked the edges of the butterflies and also lightly inked over the embossed areas to highlight them. Before attaching the butterflies, I curled the wings and added glue to the points that would touch the paper.
Other elements on the card include stained gauze in the background, bling brads from my stash, a little stitching and of course, some pearls in brown from Flourish With A Bling.
